 2026 Seaspray Catamaran Events Confirmed.

Here is the list of confirmed events for this season:


NSC Catamaran Sailing Days - July (3rd 4th & 5th) Lake Newell, Alberta at Newell Sailing Club.  Info on Seaspray repairs and upgrades, Seaspray dolly upgrade, destination sailing challenges, race yourself concepts, skills practice, socializing and/or other.  This event is open to all catamaran classes.    


Prairie Wind Regatta- July 11, 12th. Lake Newell. Newell Sailing Club

Check the NSC website for the NOR probably May or June.  Generally attended by at least five or more Seasprays in the past. 


Alberta Sailing Provincial Regatta Sept 4, 5 and 6th.  Scheduled for NSC at Lake Newell.  No other info at this time.  Seasprays can enter this event as well.   




BeachCat Regatta-Sept 11, 12, 13th Lake Newell.  Seaspray Canadian Nationals and North Americans (American Sailor attendance required).  Notice of Race will be out soon.  


For the above events please arrange your accommodations soon.


Plan on holding Seaspray events in your location and spread the word to other Seaspray sailors in your area.





Boat Storage Potential Problems

Storing your boat outside over winter on a launching dolly may have consequences.  Snow loads and other hazards may cause structural damage.  Make sure your hulls are properly supported from underneath over the winter months.  Cinch straps should go over the area where the hull is supported by the dolly bunks.  Do not fully support the front of your Seaspray with the bow tube on the dolly only.  This may contribute to the bow tube assembly breaking away from the boat.   Use extra support under the hulls near the bow to take the load away from the bow tube.  We didn't know this was so important until now. 

As our boats age it is increasingly important to pay attention to maintenance.  You depend on your equipment to get you back so check things out before going on the water this season.

REGATTAS Last year's Championships were all cancelled but planning has started for the 2021 season — assuming vaccinations are complete, virus spread is halted, and Public Health Orders are removed. From our US host club for the North American Championship: Hello sailors, Thank you for your response to my poll on our 2021 regatta. Very few of you wanted to skip for a second year and are hoping for a try this year. The EYC Board is assessing the situation on a regular basis and based on the current outlook for the summer, they have decided to slowly work towards an opening up of the EYC grounds towards the summer, subject state mandates. With that, our event schedule is compressed into a few months. The good news is that we have reserved the weekend of: August 7 & 8 for the 2021 edition of the "Live on the Edge" Multihull Regatta!   Upcoming Seaspray Events 2025 Seaspray Canadian Nationals. Sept 5, 6 and 7th   in conjunction with the BeachCat Regatta at Newell Sailing Club.  NOR at bottom of this email.  Online Registration is available on Newell Sailing Club website.  Please register beforehand to help with planning.  Purchase the meal package if you like. Newell Sailing Club's Catamaran Clinic   There were seven Seasprays, three different Nacra models, and a 20 foot Super Cat at this year's clinic.  A club potluck supper on Saturday night was well attended by clinic attendees and the club's membership. Good sailing winds happened on Saturday and Sunday after damp mornings.  The rainy mornings allowed for sailing club veranda impromptu sailing discussions on a number of topics.  Due to the higher winds no practice course was set.   The general sailing on Saturday and Sunday afternoons was challenging and with the strong winds a lot of exhilarating ...

June 12, 13 and 14   2020 The information below will help you plan if you intend on coming to this event.   Thanks go to the Eugene Yacht Club for their generous offer to camp on their grounds.  This helps to keep costs down and is helpful to the sailing group for convenience, socializing, help, etc. Thanks to Michael Butler for  being the liaison with the Eugene Yacht Club. I feel this is a very generous offer for the extra day of competition and considering the distance some of us will travel it makes perfect sense.   For those of you who are thinking about coming this is a chance to explore some new areas and sample the scenery and lifestyle of this part of the country.
